This is a truly beautiful piece and a rare find in such fantastic condition.
The distinctive Boulle inlays are made using brass, mother of pearl and tortoiseshell and provide the most attractive detail to the top of this box. Made by cabinet makers of the highest skill levels this is a fabulous example of their skill. There is only one slight blemish to the brass stringing on the right hand side of the lid which is barely noticeable and in no way detracts from the beauty of this box but is mentioned for completeness.
Internally the box has a lining of cotton velvet to provide cushioned protection for the precious things it must surely be destined to store.
